Mrs. Jacqueline Marlene Craven, affectionately known as “Jackie”, age 62, entered into rest Monday afternoon, October 16, 2017, while surrounded by her loving family in her home at Green Pond under the care of Agape Hospice. She was the loving wife of forty-two years to the late Mr. Carl Eugene Craven, Sr. who preceded her into heaven on September 22, 2017.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon, October 21, 2017, from Academy Road Baptist Church, 304 Academy Road, Walterboro. The Reverend James Dukes officiating.
Born October 15, 1955, in Colleton County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Jerry Mendel “J.M.” Craven, Sr. and the late Leila Varnadoe Craven. She was a member of Academy Road Baptist Church. Jackie dearly loved her family, and centered her life around them. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and was talented with crocheting and cross stitching having crafted many beautiful baby blankets. She also possessed an avid love for fishing.
Surviving are: three children, Carl E. Craven, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Walterboro, Carrie Craven of Green Pond, and Jody Craven of Green Pond; a brother, Jerry Mendell Craven, Jr. and his wife Julie of Walterboro; and three sisters, Deborah Craven Marsh and her husband Charles of Santee, Cynthia Craven Baldwin and her husband Emerson of Bennett’s Point, and Wanda Craven Clark of Walterboro. There are three grandchildren, Danielle Craven (Max Mitchell), Aaron Lane Craven (Shelby Kincaid), and Richard Clayton Padgett; that also survive along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death in 1992 by a son, Rowdy Sam Craven; a nephew, Jackie David Craven, Jr.; and two nieces, Dawn Priester and Kimberly Lowery.
