Mr. Franklin Cardell Lanier, Sr., 85, of Yemassee, formerly of Beaufort, entered into eternal rest Saturday evening, April 16, 2016, at the Veteran’s Victory House in Walterboro. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Betty S. Lanier.
A memorial service will be conducted 6 o’clock Thursday evening, April 21, 2016, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony at the residence in Yemassee.
Born August 8, 1930 in Millen, Georgia, he was a son of the late James Robert Lanier and the late Floy Emily Daughtry Lanier. He was a resident for nearly thirty years in Beaufort before residing the Yemassee area for the past few years of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, was a retired machinist from Parris Island, and had worked for many years as a welder for Moore’s Welding in Beaufort. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Beaufort. He will always be remembered for his love of fishing and camping.
Surviving are: two sons, Franklin C. Lanier, Jr. (Darlene) of Ridgeland and Randy Lanier (Annette Garnsey) of Yemassee; a daughter, Kristi Lanier-McCaleb (Robert) of Ridgeland; two brothers, Josh R. Lanier of Sylvania, Georgia and Herbert Wayne Lanier of Beaufort; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
