Charles E. Cook, Jr.

Mr. Charles Ervin Cook, Jr., age 73, entered into eternal rest Sunday morning, April 10, 2016 at his home in Walterboro surrounded by his loving family.  He was the loving husband of forty-two years to the late Mary Ellen Zahler Cook at the time of her death in 2011.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, April 13, 2016, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in Zahler Cemetery, Yemassee. 

Born November 14, 1942 in Jasper County, he was a son of the late Charles Ervin Cook, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Lamb Cook.  He retired from the maintenance department of the Colleton County School Bus Shop.  He was a member of the Northside Christian Church.  He was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 1988 in Walterboro, where he was a familiar face to many.  He possessed a great love for fishing and spending time with those he loved. 

Surviving are: his children, Charles E. Cook, III and his wife Mary Elizabeth and their children Candice, Diane, and Carrie; Robert F. Cook and his daughter Sierra Denny; and Melissa Drawdy and her husband David and their children C.T. “Bubba”, Tracey, and Tiffany; a sister, Mary Catherine Satterfield of Ulmer; and a brother, John Horace Cook of Fairfax.  There are two great grandchildren that also survive.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Norris Cook and Francis H. Cook.
