Dear Smith Family; I worked with Doug at the SRS for Wackenhut for over 10 years. My wife and I will not be able to attend the memorial service or funeral. I would like to personally send my sincere regrets to yu all on the passing of Doug. I considered him to be a friend. He always had a kind greeting and/or encouraging word for me. Doug meant so much to our family. Over the years he got to know our parents and even played golf with my dad. Most of all our girls looked up to Doug and as they got older and started going to the beach on their own they felt safe knowing that Uncle Doug and Aunt Sheron were just a floor below. There's so many things we will miss about him... his smile, his bear hugs and his willingness to always help a friend. He undoubtedly left a mark on our hearts and we're so grateful to have known him.
