Mr. William C. Thomas, affectionately known by many as “Bill”, age 82, entered into eternal rest Wednesday morning, March 22, 2017, surrounded by his loving family in his home in Walterboro while under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina.

Born September 27, 1934, in Colleton County, he was a son of the late Stephen Thomas and the late Helen Keels Thomas.  Bill served our country in the United States National Guard.  For many years, he operated B and W Tom’s Sales in Walterboro and after its closing in 1986, began another venture in life, Bill’s Used Furniture, which he still operated until this day.   Bill possessed a strong work ethic but possessed an even stronger love for his family and his Savior.  He was a leader in his church and was active in the life of Walterboro Church of God.  He was also a leader in the Walterboro Community, helping anyone that he could and always placing the needs of others before his own.  He centered his life around his loving family and will always be remembered for his love of singing.

Surviving are: his wife of sixty-two years, Mrs. Betty Crosby Thomas; two children, Teresa Thomas McDonald and her husband Wesley of Walterboro and William Wayne Thomas and his wife Pam of Walterboro; two brothers, Al Thomas and his wife Bennie of Seattle, Washington and Steve Thomas, Jr. and his wife Nikki of Cordova, North Carolina; and three sisters, Virginia Thomas Bunton her husband Nelson of Sumter, Judy Thomas Cannon of Walterboro, and Margaret Thomas Hilderbrand and her husband Keith of St. Matthews.   There are seven grandchildren, April Thomas Cooke and her husband Wesley, Wanda Phillips Yarbrough and her husband Kevin, Nicholas Wayne Thomas and his wife Brisen, Ken Maness, Chuck Maness and his wife Tracey, Josh Maness and his wife Alicia, Stephanie Maness, and Courtney McDonald Wilkins and her husband Jason; as well as eleven great grandchildren that also survive.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Thomas Hutton.
