Mrs. Ruby Taylor Harmon, 96, of Walterboro, entered into rest Sunday morning, June 11, 2017, at the Pruitt Health Care Center in Walterboro.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Thursday morning, June 15, 2017, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Dr. Zane Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Born February 6, 1921, in Searcy County, Arkansas, she was one of thirteen children of the late Andrew and Josephine Baker Taylor. She resided in Indiana for a great portion of her life before making the Lowcountry of South Carolina her home. In Indiana, she owned and operated two restaurants, Mom and Pop’s and the Luncheonette. Known affectionately by everyone as “Granny”, she will always be remembered for the love and devotion she gave to all. She was a talented seamstress and quilt maker and was a member of the Assembly of God.
Surviving are: two children, Sue Hickam and Randy Haton both of Walterboro; a brother, Wilbur Lee Taylor of Daphne, Alabama; four grandchildren, Lori Kreighbaum, Larry Johnson, Lennie Johnson, and Jennifer Rose Haton; twelve great grandchildren; and nineteen great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four grandchildren, Lisa K. Johnson, Teresa Johnson, Phillip Johnson, and Danny Johnson; and her first husband and her children’s father, Randle Haton.
