I only knew Mr. Gruber from speaking with him briefly during the past few years in local businesses here in town, but I want to offer my condolences and say that he was a very special man. My family and I were so touched by how caring, loving and attentive he was with his wife. He always told us she was his sweetheart and told us how many years they had been together. It was a joy to run into them and listen to his stories and see his sweet smile. There aren't many heroes walking among us anymore. He will be missed. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

I am sure going to miss seeing him come into the bank and telling us jokes. He was a wonderful caring man. God rest his soul.

To the Family of James D. Gruber. I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one, James. May the God of comfort heal your heart. The passing of someone you love can be a very hard thing to deal with. I hope you can find comfort in the promise of the resurrection mentioned in the Bible at John 5:28&29. Sincerely, Kristy jw.org

Mr Gruber was a man to be honored. I enjoyed talking with him as he shared his stories about the war and showed me the pictures of the concentration camps. He was a man that expressed his passion for people. I truly enjoyed the talks we had and the days we hunted together. He will be truly missed. My prayers are with the family in their time of lost.

To Uncle James' family, May the Lord be your strength and comfort. Uncle James was one of a kind, he was a very upfront & hard working man in his time. He didn't play when it came to work. He served his country well and was well known throughout the Lowcountry and in many areas surrounding. All I have ever know him to be was a dedicated husband and father, to both of his families. There was never I time I saw him that he had that big ol' grin on his face and would say "How's it goin' gal"? I will be forever greatful for all that he did for my Dad (Earl) when he was sick. Now Uncle James it's your time to rest. To the family and his Caregivers, he will be missed by all but one thing is for sure all that you did for him on this side you will be greatly rewarded for it some day. God be your strength and our prayers and love are with you all. I may not be close but I think of you often. Love & prayers, Darleen Gruber Gaskins
