Barbara, we are just now learning of Jasper's passing. Am so glad that we had the telephone conversation with both of you while he was still at home. Our fon30d memories of the two of you ( & Jappy & Carla) go back a long, long way and are certainly cherished ones. Please know that our thoughts are with you and your family.

My sincere sympathy to the family of General Varn. He was my inspiration to join the Guard in Hampton in 1974. I met with and took a photograph of him during a visit he made to his troops at Ft. Bragg in the 1980's. I recently moved back home and went by the house, but no one was there. I will hold fond thoughts in my heart for the General. He was very encouraging to me and played a large role in my military career. Rest In Peace, General. Thank you for all your encouragement. Sincerely.

Barbara, Jappy, Carla, and my brother Paul,
I am sorry to hear about the passing of General Varn. I always enjoyed conversations with him at family gatherings. He paid attention to what I was saying and made it a meaningful conversation. Barbara as well. Good people whom I respect very much. I am making a contribution to the Shriner's Hospital for Children and feel happy that the hospital is one of your preferences.
Sincerely, Brian

Mrs. Varn,
I am so sorry about the loss of your husband. Please accept my deepest sympathies and some words of comfort from God's Word, the Bible.
The loss lf a dear husband of 65 years can cause much pain and feelings of loneliness, but know that you are never alone. Our merciful, heavenly Father understands what you are going through and he is there for you to help you endure this difficult time. (Psalms 121:1-3; 145:18, 19) So, please call upon and accept all the help from "the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials." (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4)
Our loving God and Cre, Jehovah, did not intend for us to die, so he promises to reunite us with our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death. (Job 14:14, 15; John 5:28, 29) Knowing you will see your dear Jasper again will hopefully bring you some comfort. I will also include you in my prayers.
