Chief Master Sergeant Chester Augustus Lyons, United States Air Force (Ret.), affectionately known by many as “Chet”, age 86, of San Antonio, Texas and a native and longtime resident of Smoaks, South Carolina, entered into rest Wednesday morning, April 12, 2017, at the Windermene Nursing Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Funeral services with full military honors will be conducted 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, April 22, 2017, from the graveside in Hagan Cemetery, Smoaks, South Carolina.
Born September 20, 1930, he was a son of the late Arnett Lyons and the late Ella Linder Lyons. He served our country faithfully in the United States Air Force, having seen action during the Vietnam Era and retiring with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He then began with Parson’s having retried as a Federal Material Procurement Contractor. He was raised in the Berea Advent Christian Church and was a Master Mason. He will always be remembered for the love he possessed for his country and family as well as his passion for golf and fishing.
Surviving are: his wife of forty-three years, Mrs. Esther Abellanosa Lyons; four daughters, Debra Lyons of Summerville, Sharilyn Shaw of San Antonio, Robyn Lyons of Summerville, and Ronda King of San Antonio; three brothers, Parker Lyons of Walterboro, Daniel D. Lyons of California, and Donald R. Lyons of Islandton; and two sisters, Lessie Wooten of Varnville and Joyce Brabham of Branchville. There are eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Myers.
