Born October 9, 1933, a lifelong resident of Ruffin, he was a son of the late Richard Cleveland Gooding and the late Ruth Taylor Gooding.   The founding owner of C.H. Gooding Landscaping, he was a well-known fixture throughout Colleton County for his strong work ethics and devotion to his trade.  He loved farming as well and devoted a great deal of his time to cultivating and nurturing his crops.  He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church – Ruffin Charge and was a Master Mason holding his sixty year membership at Bells Masonic Lodge, No. 236 – Ancient Free Masons.  He will always be remembered for the love he possessed for his family always providing the very best he could for those he loved and centering his life around their wants; as well as for his dry wit and comical sense of humor.

Surviving are: his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Mrs. Joyce G. Gooding; a daughter, Teresa Gooding DeLoach and her husband Stephen of Hampton; a son, Charles Henry Gooding, Jr. and his wife Laura of Melbourne Beach, Florida; and four grandchildren, Matthew DeLoach and his wife Lauren of New Braunfels, Texas, Justin DeLoach of the home, Emily Gooding and Henry Gooding both of Walterboro.   He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ruth Gooding Smith and Eunice Gooding Ulmer.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Amedisys Hospice and his devoted caregiver, Rose Caudillo for the love, devotion, and care they have provided to Mr. Gooding during his illness.
