Bennie David "B.D." McMillan

May 26, 1932 ~ November 14, 2015 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Mr. Bennie David McMillan, affectionately known by many as “B.D.”, age 83, of Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday morning, November 14, 2015, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.  He was the husband of the late Mrs. Joan Brown McMillan who died in 2001.

 

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, November 16, 2015, from the First Baptist Church of Walterboro, 124 South Memorial Avenue, Walterboro.  The Reverend Philip McNeal officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro.

 

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony during a time of visitation beginning at 1 o’clock that afternoon in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Walterboro. 

 

Born May 26, 1932 in Jacksonboro, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Jacob Lonnie McMillan and the late Wilmer Fralix McMillian.  A 1950 graduate of Walterboro High School, he played football all four years of high school with the Walterboro Wildcats prior to furthering his education at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.  He served our Country faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  Ben, he was known mostly in the Charleston area, served as the Chief Executive Officer of CoMac, Inc. which was a moving business he founded and operated along with his family since 1985.  Prior to this venture, he worked from 1960 until 1985 with Nilson Van and Storage.  Between the years of 1960 and 2010, he held memberships and offices within the following organizations, North Columbia Business Men Club, National Defense Transportation Association, Charleston Movers Association, Columbia Movers Association, Columbia Executive Association, Charleston Executive Association, and the South Carolina Movers Conference. 

 

Surviving are: a daughter, Laura McMillan Spivey and her husband Greg of Walterboro; a sister, Vera McMillan Neal of Walterboro; and a brother, Hubert McMillan of Louisiana.   He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Lynn McMillan.
