Wayne Hiers

Mr. Robert Wayne Hiers, 68, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Thursday evening, November 16, 2023, at Colleton Medical Center.

Born July 14, 1955, in Walterboro, he was a son of the late Sibyl S. Hiers and Irene Johnson Hiers.  He was a retired driver for Carmichael Oil in Walterboro.  After retirement, he worked at a plantation taking care of the animals.  He was a member of Evergreen Christian Church.  Wayne loved the outdoors and enjoyed coon hunting and rabbit hunting.  He loved his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren. 

Surviving are: his daughter Courtney Barnwell and her husband Greg of Rincon, Georgia; brother, Joe Earl Hiers and his wife Ann of Walterboro; grandchildren, Caden, Easton, Waylon and Adeline; nieces, Missy and Sibyl Ann; nephews, Shannon, Jason, and Jody; great nieces, Logan, Skylar, and Alie; and a great nephew, Bryson. 

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, November 19, 2023, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Bells Highway, Walterboro.
