Tony Cruz

Mr. Antonio C. Cruz, Jr., affectionately known to everyone as “Tony”, 57, of Varnville, entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning, November 14, 2023, at his residence.

Born May 13, 1966, in Lakewood, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Antonio Cruz, Sr. and Nita Ellen Cruz Mills.  Tony was a simple man who loved his family and loved ‘70’s music, especially his favorite singer, Stevie Nicks, whom he adored.  Even though Tony did not have much, he always wanted to give what he had to his family members and others. 

Tony had a very special, life-long bond with his surviving twin brother, Bobby Cruz of Kissimmee, Florida.  Growing up you rarely would see one without the other and as adults, they remained close despite the distance between them.

Additionally, Tony is survived by his brother, Franklin Applegate and his wife Barbara of Maryland; his sisters, Florence Walls and her husband Mike of Oregon, Dianne Dibona of New Jersey, Toni Marie Tilton of Georgia, Provy Cruz-Poston and her husband Richard of Varnville, and Nita Adams and her husband Tim of Allendale; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

Graveside funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, November 18, 2023, at Varnville Cemetery.
