Timothy Norman Sutton, 64, of Hampton, passed away following an illness Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Memorial Health in Savannah.
Born October 22, 1959, in San Antonio, Texas, he was a son of the late William Norman Sutton and Mary Lee Harrison Sutton.
In addition to being a Volunteer Fireman and First Responder, Tim worked as a Law Enforcement Officer for twenty-seven years and retired as a Detective with the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office. Timothy enjoyed being a law enforcement officer and serving his community. He was of the Christian faith and was a member of Open Arms Fellowship. He participated in the food ministry where he helped deliver food for the Food Giveaway mission and assisted with the “Feed the Hungry” mission during the Thanksgiving season. During the summer, he volunteered as the swimming coach at the Fellowship's sports camp. Mr. Sutton is lovingly remembered as a kind soul who liked to always put a smile on someone’s face; a loving father who was proud of his three children; a loving husband who loved taking his wife fishing; and a loving caretaker who enjoyed tobake and fiddle around on their farm.
Mr. Sutton is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Susan L. Varhola Sutton of Hampton; his son, Timothy E.N. Sutton of Irmo, his daughters, Katie M. Allen and her husband Will of Easely, Tori N. Sutton of Charlotte, North Carolina; his brothers, William L. Sutton of Walterboro, and Daniel J. C. Sutton of Cottageville; his sisters, Mary N. Sutton Taylor and her husband Robert of Jamestown and Nancy M. Sutton Drawdy of Varnville; a grandchild, Amaris Aspen Allen; a special niece, Charlotte Gosnell; a special friend, Larry Bishop; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Timothy is preceded in death by his brothers, Edward H. Sutton and Garland E.L. Sutton; and a brother-in-law, Robert Taylor.
Funeral services will be held 10 o'clock, Wednesday morning, November 15, 2023, at Open Arms Fellowship, 402 Hoover St., Hampton, with Pastor James Porter officiating. Interment will follow in the Sutton Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Open Arms Fellowship, Tuesday evening from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock.
