Master Sergeant Theodore Jon Swanson, United States Air Force (Retired), 58, of Walterboro, entered into eternal life Monday afternoon, March 12, 2018, at Hospice of Charleston after a long and courageous battle with ALS.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 am, Thursday morning, March 15, 2018 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow at 2 o’clock, Thursday afternoon in Beaufort National Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force.
Born June 19, 1959 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he was a son of the late Jean Gobert Kent. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. During his time in the Air Force, he was a Flight Simulator Technician, Medic, Leadership School Instructor, and Recruiter. After retirement, he was a Computer IT Engineer. Mr. Swanson, loved NASCAR Racing, liked working with his computers; and was a Scout Leader. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing.
Surviving are: his wife, Lena Anderson Swanson of Walterboro; step-father, Bill Kent of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sons, William L. Swanson and his wife Megan of Walterboro, and Timothy J. Swanson of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren, Theodore J. Swanson, John Pinson, and Jo Pinson, all of Walterboro; brother, Vincent S. Berry of Portageville, Missouri; and sister, Katherine Kent of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
