Mr. Teddy Lee Bentley, Jr., age 76, entered into rest Thursday evening, November 28, 2019, at his home in Walterboro.
Born October 31, 1943, in Taylorsville, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Teddy Lee Bentley, Sr. and the late Anne Faulkenberry Johnson. He entered the United States Navy at the age of 17, and served faithfully during the Vietnam Era. He was the owner and operator of Bentley Transportation and also operated Heavy Duty Wreckers for Tommies Auto and Diesel in Walterboro, where he became affectionately known as “Pops”. He was certified in operating heavy-duty rotators and also held his Wreck Master Certificate. Ted believed in hard work and centered his life around his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are: his wife of thirty-two years, Mrs. Myrtle Murdaugh Bentley; three children, Brenda Kinard Bristow and her husband Nate, Tommie Kinard, and Denise Kinard Crosby and her husband Scott all of Walterboro; twelve grandchildren, Toni II Osteen (John) Meagan Murray (Shawny), Natalye Kinard, Caroline Kinard, Parker Mauney, Michelle Gruber, Michael Gruber, Jr., Matthew Crosby (Erica), Rilee Westbury (Josh), Jacqueline Crosby, D.J. Bristow, and Tristian Bristow; and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Allison Annette Kinard in 1983.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, December 1, 2019, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Ben Langdale officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro.
