Susanne Priester Lyons

Ms. Susanne Priester Lyons, 72, of Smoaks, entered into rest Tuesday morning, May 17, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family while under the care of Amedisys Hospice.

Born January 17, 1950, in Walterboro, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Willis and Reba Smith Priester.   She worked a long and dedicated career with Enterprise Bank of South Carolina in Ehrhardt where she was a customer service representative, always endearing her work family close to her heart.  She was raised in the family church, Little Swamp United Methodist Church.  Susanne loved life and lived each and every day to its fullest potential.   She immersed herself in the love of her family and always centered her life around each of them.  She on many occasions could be found on the sandy shores of Edisto Beach basking in the sun and enjoying the warmth that she knew came from God.   Susanne Lyons could light up any room and she left a lasting impression on many hearts during her time on this earth. 

Surviving are: three children, Harriett Lyons Shearer and her husband Glen of Ruffin, Becky Lyons Robertson and her husband Leo of Smoaks, and Marion Lyons of Smoaks; two sisters, Frances P. Ulmer and her husband Olin of Ruffin and Phyllis P. Mangum and her husband Parks of Walterboro; eight grandchildren, Kent Godley, Victoria Bishop (Justin), Austin Lyons, Madison Lyons, Dalton Lyons, Matthew Shearer, Leanne Delk (John), Wylee Delk and Trey Robertson (Brittany); and two great grandchildren, John David Spahn and Piper Martin.  She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Joshua Shearer. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to: Charleston Hope Lodge, 269 Calhoun Street, Charleston, South Carolina 29401.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, May 22, 2022, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.   The Reverend Haskell Parlor officiating.   The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony.
