Mrs. Sally Jo Wooten Moore, 69, of Hampton, entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening, May 6, 2020 at Hampton Regional Medical Center.
Born on June 26, 1950 in Hampton County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Montague Wooten and Lemerle Sheppard Wooten. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and was a caregiver to many elderly people. She was a member of West End Baptist Church. Mrs. Sally was a devoted wife, having supported her husband throughout his ministry since 1984. Together, they served as counselors at the Baptist Children’s Home in North Carolina. She was also a loving mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with and being “MeMa” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always cooking for them and making sure they were fed.
Surviving are: her husband of 51 years, Reverend Charles Wade Moore of Hampton; children, Greg Moore and his wife Pam of Hampton and Melinda DeLoach and her husband Clint of Estill; grandchildren, Blair, Ansley, Asher, Callen, Mark, Mitchell, and Meghan; great grandchildren, Gunner, Remi, and Zayna; brother, Charles “Randy” Wooten, Sr. and his wife Cheryl of Grays; sister, Jacqueline McBride of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Reba Wooten of Nixville and Shirley Altman of Hampton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John Henry Wooten, Sr., George Montague “Monty” Wooten, and Ronnie Hugh Wooten, Sr.
In consideration of the extraordinary circumstances associated with the Coronavirus, the family will hold a private graveside funeral service for Mrs. Sally at Sand Hill Cemetery, Monday, May 11, 2020 at 1 o'clock pm. The funeral service will be live streamed from The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapels and Crematory Facebook page and website.
