Robert Alvin Douglas

Chief Warrant Officer Robert Alvin Douglas, United States Navy (Ret.), age 76, of Ridgeville, entered into rest Saturday evening, November 23, 2019, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Born March 9, 1943, in Ashland, Wisconsin, he was a son of the late Gilbert P. Douglas and the late Leona Daniel Douglas.  He served our country faithfully for thirty years in the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam Era and Desert Storm. He for a number of years, among other occupations, worked for the Allergy Shop, an air-conditioning company in North Charleston.   He was a faithful member of Maple Cane Baptist Church in Cottageville.  At his beloved church, he sang in the Choir, was a Sunday School Teacher and served as an Usher.  

Surviving are: his wife of forty-five years, Mrs. Barbara Murray Douglas of Ridgeville; a son, Marc Blake Douglas and his wife Melissa of North Charleston; two brothers, Ken R. Douglas of Wisconsin and Keith G. Douglas of Chesapeake, Virginia; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Isabella.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Glen P. Douglas. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to:  Maple Cane Baptist Church, 21324 Augusta Highway, Cottageville, South Carolina 29435. 

A memorial service will be held at 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon, November 30, 2019, from Maple Cane Baptist Church, 21324 Augusta Highway, Cottageville.  The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 12 noon in the church sanctuary.
