Mrs. Rita Priester Banks, 67, of Walterboro, entered into rest Monday afternoon, April 4, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born April 25, 1954, in Walterboro, South Carolina. She was a daughter to the late Mr. Alvertis Priester and Mrs. Virginia Nettles Priester. Mrs. Banks lived her life for the Lord and was a longtime member at Bedon Baptist Church, where she was the organist for over fifty years. Rita was a devoted wife and mother who was exceptionally loving and kind hearted; leaving her smile and graciousness everywhere she went. In her past time, she loved fishing with her husband, who she considered to be her best friend. But above all, the most important possession to her was her family, whom she loved and cared for dearly.
Surviving in addition to her mother of Walterboro are: her husband James R. Banks ,Sr., of thirty-nine years; her children, Sheila Brand (J.R.), Angie Freeman (Ralph), Rhonda Mills (Randy), Brian Banks (Janalee) and Michael Banks (Kelly); step-children, Robbie Banks (Elise) and Cindy Virden (Brad); grandchildren, Katelyn Fourie, Julia Brand, Keith Freeman, Kaley Mills, Randy Mills, III, Grayson Mills, Jadien Sheffield, Marcus Hicks, Brianna Banks, Abby Banks, Kayla Banks, Justin Banks, River Banks, Dylan Banks, Chris Banks, Faith Bishop, Ayden Banks, Taylor Marin and Aaron Virden and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Allen Priester (Trisha); two sisters, Debbie Sineath, Ruthann Beach (Bobby) and three sisters-in-laws, Shirley Capps, Sandra Raines, and Sharon Avant.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amber Freeman; nephew, Ric Roscoe; mother-in-law, Virginia Banks and father–in-law, Clyde Banks.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o’clock, Friday afternoon, April 8, 2022, at Bedon Baptist Church, Walterboro. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
