Mr. Michael Woodrow Fender, 75, of Lodge, entered into rest Tuesday evening, July 19, 2022, at his residence while under the care of Amedisys Hospice.
Born February 7, 1947, in Ruffin, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Woodrow Wilson Fender and the late Florence Crosby Fender. He served our country faithfully in the United States Navy having served two tours during the Vietnam Era. Michael worked a long and dedicated career with Delavan in Bamberg where he retired as a quality control inspector from the Fuel Oil Nozzle division with over thirty years of service. He was a member of Carter’s Ford Baptist Church in Lodge. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisher and hunter. He was a member and was the President of the Mare Bay Hunting Club in Lodge. He also worked with Cherokee Plantation for several years in the grounds department.
Surviving are: his wife of fifty-one years, Mrs. Teresa Linder Fender; a son, Michael Casey Fender and his wife Alisha Strickland Fender of Lodge; a brother, Dennis Fender and his wife Sharon Fender of Lodge; two grandchildren, Skylar Fender and Daniel Fender; and a great grandchild, Ellys. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Tony Linder (Tami); three nephews, Brian Linder (Lindsay), Matthew Linder, Dwayne Brickle (Wanda); and a niece, Debbie Brickle Brown (Jeff). He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Franklin Fender and a sister, Glenda Brickle.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30am Friday morning, July 22, 2022, from Carters Ford Baptist Church, 6507 Lodge Highway, Lodge. The Reverend Dale Hutto officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the churchyard.
