Marilyn Camburn Obituary

Mrs. Theresa Marilyn Adams Camburn, age 85, of Walterboro, entered into rest Wednesday morning, March 17, 2021, at her son’s residence in Charleston.   She was the wife of the late Mr. Ralph Camburn.  She is survived by her daughter, Karen Camburn; sons, Douglas Camburn (Vicky) and Paul Camburn (Michelle); grandchildren, Christopher and Collin Camburn; great grandchildren, Emma, William, and Thomas Camburn; and her sister, Elaine Yates.

Born September 25, 1935, in Cottageville, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Monroe Adams and the late Marion Addison Adams.

Following her graduation from business school, she worked at the Charleston Naval Base where she met her husband Ralph, who served in the Marines for 20 years.  They married and moved to Washington, D.C. and to other places around the country in service to their country.

Valedictorian of her high school class, Marilyn valued knowledge and learning and loved to share her thoughts on many subjects.

She was fiercely protective of nature, the environment, and all creatures great and small, even providing water for the yellow jackets that liked to make her their occasional target.

She was a devoted gardener, loving flowers and plants of all types, with a garden full of many varieties of flowers, beautiful azaleas and many lovely colors of camellias.

She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, lighting up when she saw them and delighting in their stories and antics.

Funeral services will be held 1 o'clock, Monday afternoon, March 22, 2021, from the graveside at the Jordan Cemetery on Addison Drive in Cottageville.
