Ms. Margaret Dessoye Avant, age 49, of Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday night, August 15, 2020, as a result of injuries sustained during an automobile accident in Barnwell county on a return trip from a horse auction in Edgefield.
Born August 11, 1971, in Staten Island, New York, she was a daughter of Christine Dascher Crosby and James K. Crosby and the late Bernard J. Dessoye, having made Walterboro her home in 1977. She was a manger with Local Finance in Holly Hill. Margaret was known far and wide by all, and she became so well known because of her work that lasted a little over twelve years at Piggly Wiggly in Walterboro. She was a huge equestrian, being well known throughout the horse world, having worked in a number of venues from rodeos to auction houses. She made her family and her friends her life. She was the type of person that always made things better, she fixed the broken, and she always filled a room with laughter. She lived life to the fullest and encouraged others to do so as well. She contained constant and seemingly endless excitement, vigor, and love. She gave to all and never asked for any return.
Surviving in addition to her mother and her husband of Walterboro are: her two children, Robert Avant and Amber Shae Avant both of Walterboro; two brothers, Bernard Joseph Dessoye and his wife Patti of Walterboro and James E. Crosby and his wife Michele of Cottageville; and a sister, Angela Maria Velazquez and her husband Jason of Walterboro. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Edward Dascher.
