Linda Pearce Ritter

Mrs. Linda Pearce Ritter, 71, of Walterboro, entered into rest Monday morning, October 3, 2022, at her residence following a short and courageous battle against Lou Gehrig Disease. 

Born May 29, 1951, in Charleston, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Robert Alzo Pearce and the late Marie Blocker Pearce.  A graduate of the University of South Carolina in Columbia she had an associates degree in History.   Linda was a dedicated employee for over twenty-five years at First Federal of Walterboro, where she worked meticulously in their accounting department.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Walterboro and was a member of the Ann Carter Sunday School Class.   Linda will always be remembered for her outgoing personality and love of all animals.   She dedicated a great deal of her life to caring for animals and benefiting their well-being.   She made her mission each day to better the lives of the animals in Walterboro.   She enjoyed traveling and had traveled to countless countries throughout the World and was often found at our beloved Edisto Beach. 

Surviving are: her husband, Mr. Johnny E. Ritter; a son, Todd Heustess of California; a sister, Cathy Tisdale and her husband Jimmy of Manning; two brothers, Robert E. “Bob” Pearce and his wife Barbara of Jacksonboro and David Michael Pearce and his wife Sabrina of Walterboro; sisters-in-law, Brenda Ritter McCants and her husband Jim of Ritter and Brenda Ritter McMillan and her husband H.M. of Walterboro; and a brother-in-law, Deaka Fennell of Ritter; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed in her memory to the following: Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488; or to, Ebenezer United Methodist Church, care of Bonnie Ritter Ramsey, 169 Saratoga Lane, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.  

The Relatives and Friends of Mrs. Linda Pearce Ritter are invited to attend her funeral services which will be conducted 11 o’clock Thursday morning, October 6, 2022, from the graveside at Ebenezer United Methodist Churchyard, 1314 Possum Corner Road, Walterboro.   The Reverend Scott Davis and The Reverend Gary Finch officiating.   The family will receive friends following the service in the churchyard.
