Kerry J. Baxley

Mr. Kerry J. Baxley, 77, entered into rest Sunday evening, March 18, 2018, at his home in Walterboro while under the care of Patriot Hospice.  He was the husband of the late Mrs. Jeanette Barrineau Baxley. 

Born June 29, 1940, in Charleston, South Carolina he was a son of the late Norman Baxley and the late Lucille Tant Baxley Quarterman.   He served our country faithfully in the United States Coast Guard.  He retired after an extensive career in Law Enforcement and was also a retired private investigator.  Kerry was well known and beloved in the Walterboro community, always present and willing to help others.   He was a member of the Unity Masonic Lodge, No. 55 – Ancient Free Masons in Walterboro, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Walterboro Lodge No. 88, The Loyal Order of Moose, and the American Legion.   Kerry also loved the outdoors and always enjoyed hunting.  

Surviving are: his two daughters, Tammy Miller and her husband Tom of Charleston and Keri Ann Benton and her husband Randy of Johns Island; four grandchildren, Danielle Miller, Morgan Baird (Cody), Dalton Benton, and Connor Benton; and his devoted companion, Deirdre Kinard.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that the memorial contributions be directed to the charity of one’s choice.

A memorial celebration of his life will be held 6 o’clock Thursday evening, March 22, 2018, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.   The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 4:30pm that afternoon.
