Mr. James Grady “Jimmy” Herndon, 79, of Summerville, entered into rest Thursday, February 18, 2021, at Summerville Hospice.
Born March 21, 1941, in Charleston, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Yarborough E. Herndon and the late Thelma Bowels Herndon. He retired as a housing manager from the Colleton County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs in 2014 and was a member of Miles Road Baptist Church in Summerville. Jimmy was a family man, he centered his life around them and took a great pride in supporting his children and grandchildren. He was an avid Clemson fan.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. JoAnna Pye Herndon; two sons, Jim Herndon and his wife Renelle of Newberry and Jason Herndon of Summerville; and three grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor, and Jessica. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Paul Pye and his wife Fran; two sisters-in-law, Paulette Zeigler and Beth Murdaugh and her husband Mark; and a niece, four nephews and a large extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to; Miles Road Baptist Church, 816 Miles Road, Summerville, South Carolina 29485.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, February 24, 2021, from the graveside at Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.
