James Ford Obituary

Mr. James Thomas Ford, Jr., 76, of Okatie, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro.

 

Born November 29, 1944 in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late James Thomas Ford, Sr. and Cordelia Arant Ford.  He served his country in the United States Navy, having served two tours in Vietnam.  He then became an electrician and retired from CSX in Savannah.  Mr. Ford loved living on the May River and enjoyed fishing and boating.  One of his favorite hobbies was repairing and restoring old tractors after he retired. He loved talking to people and anyone that he met was a friend.

 

Surviving are: his wife, Patricia O’Connor-Ford of Okatie; children, Julie Ford Musselman and her husband Rod of Bluffton and James Thomas “Tom” Ford, III and his wife Michele of Kennesaw, Georgia; grandchildren, Grant Musselman and Shelby Ford; step-sons, Jeff Misenti and his wife Hetti of Ridgewood, New Jersey and David Misenti and his wife Katie of Cromwell, Connecticut; step-grandchildren, Christopher, Genevieve, Matthew and Landyn; brothers, Michael Ford and his wife Gail and their daughter, Keanna of Gig Harbor, Washington and William Merrill Swinson of Metter, Georgia; and sister, Sheila Hendrix Strickland and her husband Wallace of Riceboro, Georgia.

 

Funeral services will be held 1 pm, Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort.
