Irene Harrington

Mrs. Irene Franzen Harrington, 90, of Walterboro, entered into rest Thursday morning, September 23, 2021, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Born August 6, 1931, in Arcadia, Nebraska, she was a daughter of the late Clause and Ruby Johnson Franzen.  She attended Northside Christian Church and also worshiped with her family at North Walterboro Baptist Church.  She was a talented artist creating many beautiful paintings and crafting homemade quilts.  She enjoyed the outdoors and took comfort in the sense of peace that it could bring.  In her earlier years, she worked as an inspector at a sewing factory and she was also a licensed beautician. 

Surviving are: a daughter, Pamela Sue Baer and her husband Gary; two sons, Royal Randal Harrington and his wife Tanya and Robin Hiner and his wife Bonnie; a brother, Maynard Franzen; a sister, Lavonne Gake; and six grandchildren, Erica, Courtney, Harley, Robin, Tiffany, and Amarinda.  She was preceded in death by three children, Jay Hiner, Allen Hiner, and Patrick Harrington; and a sister, Gladys. 

Funeral services will be conducted 5:30pm Tuesday afternoon, September 28, 2021, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony at the funeral home.  Interment will be held at the Ragan Cemetery in Neosho, Missouri.
