Hunter Scharber Obituary

Hunter Rhett Scharber, a young man who could light up a room with just his presence and infectious smile and who was such a joy in our lives, passed away on Sunday morning, January 22, 2023 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Hunter was an amazing son and brother that will be missed every day. He lived life to the fullest and he was always the life of the party. He was a great friend to many people, and we are overjoyed with all the love, support, and stories everyone has shared with us. Hunter loved his family and his friends. He loved so many things from spear fishing, deer hunting, snowboarding, all the way to jumping out of a plane. He also loved to cook for others, his many mud trucks, and his old country music. People have even said he lived his life like a country song. Hunter also loved his country and served in the United States Coast Guard.

Hunter made the decision on his own to be an organ donor. Even out of this unexpected tragedy, this has been an amazing experience. We are grateful that he will be helping others and a part of him will live on here on earth. He really made a positive impact on so many lives in his 27 years. He will be deeply missed. We loved him with all our hearts, and he always made us feel so proud.  We have had more love and support from our family and friends than could ever be imagined. They stayed by our sides during this devastating time. It has helped us in so many ways. They will never know how much that has meant to us.

We ask that contributions be made in Hunter’s memory to: LifeLink Legacy Fund, 9661 Delaney Creek Boulevard, Tampa, Florida 33619, or www.LifeLinkLegacyFund.org.  Another way to honor Hunter would be to donate blood through your local American Red Cross location.  Hunter’s wishes to give life through organ donation were fulfilled and a vital part of that was blood donation.

Surviving are:  his parents, Henry and Heather Graham Scharber; brother, Hayden Scharber and his fiancé, Ashlie Brickle; sister, Hannah Scharber; grandfather, Robert Arthur Scharber, Sr. (Neva); and grandmother, Lana Whittington. He was preceded in death by grandmother, Janet Louise Scharber; and great grandmother, Dale Whittington.

For those that would like to attend, a casual Celebration of Hunter’s Life will be held 2 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, January 28, 2023 at The Scharber Residence, 7980 Broxton Bridge Road, Bamberg, South Carolina 29003.  Please come share your memories and stories of Hunter with us during this time.
