Mr. Herbert Bryan Weatherford, Jr., 89, of Ravenel, entered into rest Thursday afternoon, July 1, 2021, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Born September 28, 1931, in Charleston, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Herbert Bryan Weatherford, Sr. and the late Wille Mae Moore Weatherford. He served our country faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, having seen action on the front lines and being awarded the Bronze Star. He worked a career with South Carolina Electric and Gas that spanned over thirty years and eventually retiring as a shift supervisor at the Canady’s Plant. He was a longtime member of the Charleston Baptist Church where over the years he has been faithful in his service to our Lord. He was a member of the Mason Lodge as well as the Elks Lodge. In years past, he coached and took great pride in Little League Baseball and Football. He also enjoyed fishing.
Surviving are: his wife of sixty-eight years, Mrs. Dale Bethea Weatherford; three children, Bonne Weatherford King and her husband Everett of Yonges Island, Herbert Bryan Weatherford and his wife Patricia of Walterboro, and Robin Weatherford Thompson and her husband Gary of Greenville; a sister-in-law, Ginny Weatherford; eight grandchildren, Susan K. .Flowers (Scot), Laura B. King (Russell), James E. King (Tapley), Amanda W. Peeples (Jason), Matthew B. Weatherford, Kristin T. Wimpy (Josh), Gary Shay Thompson, and Cary Lee Thompson (Gloria); and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, John Franklin Weatherford; and a brother, Harold Lloyd Weatherford.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, July 6, 2021, from the graveside at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston.
