Mrs. Helen Thomas Cooper, wife of the late Mr. Ronnie Cooper, of Smoaks, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at the Elizabeth House at Hendersonville, North Carolina, at 92.
Helen was born August 27, 1926, in Colleton County, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Joseph Calhoun Thomas and Alma Bishop Thomas. She was a graduate of Smoaks High School and retired from Whaley Electrical Services, after 38 years. She was a member of Summerville Community Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Surviving are: two sons, Joseph Ronnie Cooper and his wife Jamie of Walbridge, Ohio, and James Timothy Cooper and his wife Donna of Fletcher, North Carolina; a daughter, Jerri Yvonne Suttles, of Alpharetta, Georgia; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren also survive.
Also surviving are: three brothers, The Reverend J. Herbert Thomas, Ray (Elva) Thomas, of Smoaks, and Frankie (Marie) Thomas of Ridgeville; and one sister, Eva Thomas Beach of Walterboro.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Rodney, and Jake Thomas and two sisters, Susie Thomas Smith and Bettie Thomas Mitchum.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Friday morning, February 1, 2019, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Bill Underwood officiating. Interment will follow at 4 o’clock that afternoon at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC.
