Helen Byrd Obituary

Mrs. Helen Reeves Byrd, 83, of Round O, entered into eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, May 23, 2023, at Roper Hospital in Charleston. She was the wife of the late Cecil Dibble Byrd, Sr., to whom she was married 64 years.

Born January 28, 1940, in Reevesville, she was the daughter of the late Bryant James Reeves and Minnie Berry Reeves.  She and her husband were the retired owners and operators of the iconic Byrd’s Appliance and Furniture in Walterboro.  Mrs. Helen was a dedicated member of Welch Creek Baptist Church.  She was a part of most every aspect of the church’s work, including being a member of the choir and active with Camp Meeting every year. She enjoyed crafting, making floral arrangements and painting, always signing her work “Lady Byrd, John 3:16”.  She loved fishing and spending time at the river with her family and friends.  Mrs. Helen was the definition of a Godly woman.  She loved her Lord, her family, her church, and her community.  She was kindhearted, loving, and generous, always wanting to do whatever she could for others.

Surviving are: her children, Minnilynn Byrd Rodgers and her husband Frank of Centre, Alabama, Cecil Byrd, Jr. and his wife Ginger of Simpsonville, and Carl Byrd and his wife Robbin of St. George; grandchildren, Dustin Rodgers (Brittney), Caleb Rodgers (Shannon), Krista Byrd and Jacob Byrd; great grandchildren, Madison, Ellie, and Hayley Rodgers; step grandchildren, Hunter Hall (Victoria), Taylor Brown (Daniel), Michelle Strange (Mike), Michael Binkley, and Jessica Vance (Rachel); and step great grandchildren, Greer, Smith, and Rory Hall, Kaleb, Hunter, Cooper, Abbigail, Jacob, and Cameron; siblings, Fairey Reeves (Sarah) of Walterboro, Charles Reeves (Jackie) of Reevesville, B.J.
