Hannah Clayton Beard

The funeral for Hannah Clayton Beard age 97 of Ehrhardt, widow of James Billy Beard, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church near Ehrhardt. The family will receive friends before the service from Noon to 2:00 PM at Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church, 1173 Mount Pleasant Road, Ehrhardt, SC 29081. Burial will follow the service in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Mrs. Beard died June 12, 2018.

Mrs. Beard was born November 26, 1920, in Ehrhardt, S.C. a daughter of the late Laurie Rivers and Anna Bishop Clayton. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church, where she served 40 years continuous service to the Musical Ministry and was a Sunday school teacher for years.

Mrs. Beard was a graduate of Ehrhardt High School, and attended Columbia Business School. She worked at Herndon Stockyards for many years, and retired from The Enterprise Bank of South Carolina in Ehrhardt after serving for thirty years. She was a member of the Dixie Garden Club, Red Hat Society, Young at Heart, Golden Age Club, Lutheran Women’s Association, United Daughters of the Confederacy and enjoyed painting, word search puzzles, music and bingo.

She was devoted to her family and her family to her. Surviving: Daughters, Jane (Harold) Miller of Woodstock, GA, Laurine (Richard) Varnadoe of Ehrhardt and son, Pat (Sharon) Beard of Govan. Eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Special friends, Candice B. Fralix and Dot Davis, both of Ehrhardt.
