Born January 16, 1937, a native of Colleton County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Gilbert Grayson Easterlin, Sr. and the late Nina Thompson Easterlin.  He served our country faithfully as a Sergeant in the United States Army.  Following his time in the service, Grayson was a patrolman, having worked for both The City of Walterboro and the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office.   His most notable vocation in life was a game warden.  He retired after a dedicated and distinguished career with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources as a Conservation Officer.  An avid outdoorsman, he loved playing as a child in the great swamp sanctuary which was his grandfather’s backyard, as well as loved hunting wild turkey and fishing the local creeks of not only Colleton but surrounding counties.  Another of Grayson’s pastimes was wood crafting, a skill he possessed a great talent for and crafted many wonderful and treasured pipes.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro.

Surviving are: his wife, the light and love of his life for forty-four years, Mrs. Hazel Crosby Easterlin; three children, Amy Easterlin Hardee and her husband Rob of Walterboro, Corey Grayson Easterlin and his wife June of Walterboro, and Gary Lee Thompson and his wife Robin of Fountain Inn; and two brothers, James “Jim” Easterlin of Walterboro and Carroll Easterlin of Myrtle Beach.  There are eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren that also survive as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Hugh Easterlin.

In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: First Baptist Church of Walterboro, 124 South Memorial Avenue, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
