Evelyn Thomas

Mrs. Evelyn Bazzle Thomas, 84, of Ehrhardt, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at her residence.  She was the widow of Garth Wayne “Red” Thomas, to whom she was married for 51 years.

Born April 15, 1936 in Bamberg County, she was a daughter of the late Boyd Hampton Bazzle and Mary James Perry Hoover Bazzle.  She retired from BASF Corporation.  For most of her life she was a member of St. Johns Baptist Church.  Mrs. Evelyn was a great southern cook who loved to cook Sunday dinner for everyone, always put the needs of others first and was a caregiver to many relatives.  She loved her family dearly and always centered her life around them.

Surviving are: her children, C. Neil Thomas and his wife Paula of Ehrhardt, LaWanda T. Cook of Varnville, and Marion G. Thomas of Hampton; granddaughter, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Lilly and her husband Austin; step granddaughter, Tracy Norton and her husband Rian; great grandchildren, Hayden, Kolton, Waylon, and Grayson;  step great grandchildren, Rilyn and Weston; and sister, Bertie Jane Wise of Ehrhardt.  She was preceded in death by a brother, John Henry Bazzle.

A memorial service will be held at 4 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, August 16, 2020 at St. Johns Baptist Church, St. Johns Road, Ehrhardt.  A private interment will be held at Bazzle-Chassereau Cemetery in Ehrhardt. 

The family will receive friends from Sunday afternoon from 3 pm until the hour of service in the church sanctuary.
