Edward Kelly Obituary

Edward Patrick Kelly, 89 years old of Bamberg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2023 at his residence.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on April 5, 1934, where he resided until moving to Staten Island with his family in the Spring of 1968.  He  was predeceased  by his son, Walter Patrick in 1996 and his wife of forty-eight years Joan Helen in 2014.

He worked as a New York Telephone repairmen; and for over twenty-five years was in charge of the 911 Board at Police Plaza.  Ed for many years devoted his time to the Boy Scout Troop 37 located at St. Theresa’s Church on Staten Island.  He accompanied his sons on many trips; camping in the National Parks and cooked many pancake suppers for the troop.  Both him and Joan were members of the American Littoral Society and took many trips with them to Costa Rica, Cuba, the Everglades, and many trips up and down the East Coast.  They also took a trip to Ireland with their dear friends, the Tompsons.  Ed enjoyed fishing and going to car shows.
He retired early and bought a second home in Wall Township, New Jersey in 2003. They both enjoyed living by the shore and having great neighbors, the Mahedy Family.
In 2021, Ed joined his daughter Joanne and her husband Jeff Perrin for his second retirement to Bamberg, South Carolina.  Where he enjoyed a peaceful and comfortable life until his passing.  In addition to his daughter and her husband, he is also survived by his sons, Edward Peter  and Micheal Frances Kelly.

Ed will be cremated and his ashes will be brought back north to be buried with his wife and son at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.
