Donnie Creech

Mr. Donnie Ray Creech, 77, of Cottageville, entered into rest Tuesday afternoon, September 28, 2021, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. 

Born March 11, 1944, in Blackville, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Willie and Ida Miles Creech.  He served our country faithfully in the United States Army and was a Nuclear Welder at the Charleston Naval Shipyard.  He was a member of the North Charleston Baptist Church and for a number of years served as a bailiff for the Town of Cottageville Municipal Court.  Donnie was a softball fan and was a constant fixture at his daughter’s games when she was younger always suppling water and snacks for the teams.    He was a huge equestrian and dearly loved horses and carriage work, having worked tirelessly over the years training and driving carriage horses.  His work with his two favorite breeds, Percheron and Belgian horses was well known and unmatched.   Donnie in his unique way impacted the lives of many and truly had the best of personalities that was unforgettable.  He was very witty, outspoken and you always knew where he stood; but he was also the person that would give the shirt off his back and always there to lend a helping hand.  He was a great father, uncle, and friend with the biggest smile.  He possessed a lot of humor and a love for old music which he and loved blaring in his car or while riding around on his horse and carriage.

Surviving are: his daughter (his heartbeat), Robbin Lindsey Creech (Cassey Spell) of Cottageville, his former wife and dear friend, Alice Reeves Creech of Cottageville; and two sisters, Susan Todd of Summerville and Peggy Singletary of Charleston.  Closest to his heart was his beloved dogs, Ginger (Hunts-a-bun) and Hooker.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Saturday morning, October 2, 2021, from the graveside at Cottageville Cemetery on the Jacksonboro Road in Cottageville.  The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony at the cemetery.
