Mr. Donald Gaddis Steedly, 85, of Ehrhardt, entered into eternal rest Monday evening, January 24, 2022 at Colleton Medical Center.
Born February 11, 1936 in Ehrhardt, he was a son of the late Gaddis Steedly and Marjorie Yarley Steedly. He served his country in the United States Navy and retired from the Greenwood Mills Liner Plant in Orangeburg. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and was an avid member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans at Rivers Bridge Camp. He had many hobbies, including fishing and collecting everything with an eye for value. He was a jack of all trades and could do anything you asked him to.
Surviving are: his wife, Fay Johnson Merkey Steedly; sons, Robert Alan Merkey (Annette) of Walterboro, Randal Merkey (Lisa) of Smoaks, and Donald Duane Steedly (Lisa) of Varnville; brothers, L.A. Steedly of Ehrhardt and Larry Steedly (Pat) of Summerville; sister, Treva Furr of Ehrhardt; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the organization of one’s choice.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday afternoon, February 11, 2022 from 2 until 4 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 12514 Broxton Bridge Road, Ehrhardt.
