Donald Mattie

Mr. Donald Eugene Mattie, Sr., 81, of Hampton, entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning, May 10, 2022 at his residence under the care of Amedisys Hospice. 

Born June 25, 1940 in Tarpon Springs, Florida, he was the son of the late Lester Eugene Mattie and Agnes Negray Mattie.  He served his country in the United States Air Force, as well as the United States Navy.  He was a retired electrician having worked at Clariant, now Archroma, for 35 years.  He was a genius at working on electronics.  He enjoyed working on computers, playing guitars, and especially loved talking on his ham radios.  He was a member of the Evergreen Masonic Lodge #153 in Hampton and was a Shriner. 

Surviving are: his wife of 50 years, Lynne Davis Mattie of Hampton; sons, Donald E. “Donnie” Mattie, Jr. (Jessica) and Andrew Boyce (Melonee); grandchildren, Ryan, Evan, Walker, and Lucas; brother, Michael Mattie (Debbie); 3 brothers-in-law; 2 sisters-in-law; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Tillman Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
