Derick Steele

Mr. Derick Christopher Steele, 50, of Lexington, entered into eternal rest Thursday morning, April 15, 2021 at his residence.

Born January 24, 1971 in Cookeville, Tennessee, he was a son of Brenda Emberton Steele and the late Phillip Ray Steele.  He was a member of Welch Creek Baptist Church.  In high school, he excelled in sports.  For most of his life, Derick worked in the plumbing business.  He liked fishing, riding 4-wheelers and dirt bikes, and most of all enjoyed tinkering with his Jeep. Derick loved his family and loved other, always putting the needs of others before himself and was known for always doing whatever he could to help others.

Surviving are: his mother, Brenda E. Steele of Walterboro; daughter, Kesi Avo Steele of West Columbia; brother, Eric Ian Steele and his wife, Mary Beth of West Columbia; niece, Elizabeth Steele of West Columbia; his daughters’ mother, Alisha Steele of West Columbia; and a step daughter, Kaylie Velazquez.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to: Welch Creek Baptist Church, Derick Steele Fund, 536 Welch Creek Road, Walterboro, SC 29488.

Funeral services will be held 5 o’clock, Friday afternoon, April 23, 2021 at Welch Creek Baptist Church, 536 Welch Creek Road, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 4 until the hour of service in the church sanctuary.
