Mr. Denny Heber Polk, 78, of Islandton, entered into eternal rest Saturday morning, October 21, 2023, at his residence.
Born May 3, 1945, in Walterboro, he was a son of the late Heber Polk and Euie Sineath Polk. He served his country in the South Carolina Army National Guard. Mr. Denny was a faithful and devoted member of Rice Patch Christian Church, where he was a former Deacon, Elder, and Youth Leader. He was the owner and operator of Polk Logging. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed boating. He loved farming and his family. He always enjoyed spending time with his family, attending events they were participating in, and was a father figure to many.
Surviving are: his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Tuten Polk of Islandton; children, Chris Polk and his wife Robin of Islandton, Wesley Polk and his wife Denise of Islandton, and Denise Binford and her husband Tim of Cookeville, Tennessee; one that he loved as a son, Clifton Benjamin Hiers; grandchildren, Chelsea Polk, Morgan Polk, Caroline Cook (Tyler Goodwin), Summer Bennett (Justin Pfeffer), and Nolan Binford; great grandchildren, Charlie Cook, Matthew Bishop, McKenzie Pfeffer, Elijah Pfeffer, and Isla Grace Goodwin; brother, Billy Derwood Polk of Islandton; sister, June Polk Darnell of Denmark; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, John Christopher Heber Polk; sister-in-law, Rae Gibson Polk; and brother-in-law, Ed Darnell.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2 o'clock, Thursday afternoon, October 26, 2023, at Rice Patch Christian Church Cemetery, 15246 Sniders Highway, Islandton.
