Debra Godley

Mrs. Debra Kay Poston Godley, 69, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Friday evening, October 13, 2023, at Colleton Medical Center.

Born November 10, 1953, in Florence, she was a daughter of the late Eugene Poston and Roylee Carmon Poston.  Debra was kind, loving, and caring.  She made friends quickly with anyone she met, always wanted to do what she could to help those in need and was always someone you could count on when you could not count on anyone else.  She was an excellent cook.  To her daughter, she was the best mother anyone could ask for, and to her sisters and brother she was the best sister anyone could ever have.

Surviving are: her husband, Steve “Thunder” Godley of Walterboro; daughter, Tessa Godley of Walterboro; grandchildren, Jaylyn “J-Bug” Godley and Christopher “Junior” Wilson; two special people that she loved as her own, Dustin Sullivan and Sammy Brunson; sisters, Carolyn Rahn of Walterboro, Janet Henderson and her husband “Chico” of Cottageville, and Lynn Poston and her husband Chuck of Walterboro; brother, Steve Poston of Walterboro; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Gainey; and her brother, Michael Poston.

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Monday afternoon, October 16, 2023, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Entombment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 1 o’clock, Monday afternoon.
