Mr. Dale LeRoy Knapp, Sr., 73, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 am, Friday, July 31, 2015 at Cottageville Baptist Church, 11643 Cottageville Highway, Cottageville. Interment will follow at 12 noon at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort.
Mr. Knapp was born January 2, 1942 in Courtland, New York and was a son of the late Myron Knapp and Marion Oree Knapp. He served his country in the United States Navy. He was the owner of Knapp Trucking, LLC. Mr. Knapp was a member of Cottageville Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon and participated in many aspects of the church’s work. He enjoyed fishing and farming. Most of all, he was a Christian man, who was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Surviving are: his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Judy Knapp of Cottageville; children, Horace Dale Knapp and his wife Shannon of Summerville, Bruce Wayne Knapp of Ridgeville, Dale LeRoy Knapp, Jr. and his wife Sarah of Cottageville, Jewell Ann Jurco and her husband Timothy of Cottageville, and Tammy Elizabeth White and her husband James of Goose Creek; sisters, Roberta Stairs of California, Cheryl Mosher of New York, Norma Tratt of New York, Joy Austin of New York, and Susie Leubner of New York; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Edward Jeffrey Knapp; sister, Arlis Slater; and brothers, Paul Knapp and Wayne Knapp.
