Cole Lawson Obituary

Mr. Cole Livingston Blease Lawson, II, 86, of Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday morning, April 30, 2022, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

 

Born April 16, 1936, in Colleton County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Cole L. B. Lawson and the late Queen Victoria Hiers Lawson Jones.   He worked a long and dedicated career in civil service as a bookkeeper having started following his graduation from Columbia Commercial College with Fort Jackson and eventually retiring from Parris Island.  He was a lifelong member of Evergreen Christian Church in Walterboro where he had served as Elder, Deacon, Trustee, Treasurer, and a Sunday school teacher having taken great pride in teaching the Great Commission. He was an avid hunter, having hunted in almost every state in the United States.  For twenty years, he operated Lowcountry Deer Processing.  He also enjoyed gardening and took pride in his yearly crop.  He in his high school days excelled in Football and Baseball and is a member of the Walterboro Sports Hall of Fame. 

 

Surviving are his wife that he has known for seventy wonderful years, Mrs. Rose Fraser Lawson; three children, Sonny Lawson (Chasidy) of Montana, Victoria Lawson (Keith) of Walterboro, and Kathy Lawson Kinard (Crendall) of Beech Island; a sister, JoAnn Lawson Kinard (Clyde); seven grandchildren, Cole Lawson, IV, Jack Lawson, Annslee Wright, Brittany Beach (Randy), C.J. Kinard, Karly McKenna (Brandon), and Camden Kinard; and six great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Doty. 

 

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be directed in his memory to:  Evergreen Christian Church, Post Office Box 1686, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488. 

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Monday morning, May 2, 2022, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.   Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery on the Bells Highway in Walterboro.   The family has requested that the active as well as past Deacons and Elders of Evergreen Christian Church serve as Honorary Escorts and their presence is requested at The Funeral Chapel at 10:30am that morning.
