Charles Moore Obituary

Reverend Charles Wade Moore, 73, of Hampton, entered into eternal rest Monday evening, May 23, 2022 at The Medical University of South Carolina.  He was the husband of the late Sally Wooten Moore, to whom he was married for 51 years.

Born August 29, 1948 in Barnwell, he was the son of the late Carson Octavius Moore and Louise Ashworth Moore.  He proudly and faithfully served his country in the South Carolina Army National Guard, retiring as a Staff Sergeant.  He worked at Westinghouse for many years before being called into the ministry in 1984.  Mr. Charles worked, alongside his wife, at the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home in North Carolina.  He served as Pastor of Steep Bottom Baptist Church for eight years and served at many churches when needed.  He was a member of West End Baptist Church, was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and choir member.  If you knew Mr. Charles, then you knew most of all, that he loved his Lord, his country, and his family.  He was caring, giving, God-fearing and strong.  He always greeted you with a smile on his face and with uplifting, loving words.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and especially being at any event, big or small, for his grandchildren. Although he will be dearly missed here on earth, he is walking the streets of gold today, hand in hand with his beloved Sally.

Surviving are: his children, Greg Moore and his wife Pam of Varnville and Melinda DeLoach and her husband Clint of Estill; grandchildren, Blair, Ansley, Asher, Callen, Mark, Mitchell, and Meghan; great grandchildren, Gunner, Remi, Zayna and Chance; sister, Shirley Moore Altman of Hampton; brother-in-law, Charles “Randy” Wooten, Sr. and his wife Cheryl of Grays; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline McBride of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Reba Wooten of Nixville; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Charles Altman, John Henry Wooten, Sr., George Montague “Monty” Wooten, and Ronnie Hugh Wooten, Sr.; and a nephew, Charles Steven Altman.
