Mr. Cecil Dibble Byrd, Sr., 86, of Round O, entered into eternal rest Wednesday morning, January 19, 2022 at Colleton Medical Center.
Born November 2, 1935 at his old homeplace in Round O, where he still resided, he was the son of the late Charlie Fletcher Byrd and Sarah Hilton Byrd. He was a retired civil service employee from the Charleston Air Force Base and was the retired owner and operator of the iconic, well-known Byrd’s Appliance and Furniture in Walterboro. Mr. Cecil was a dedicated member of Welch Creek Baptist Church. He believed in prayer and being faithful to his church and his fellow man. He was a Past Master of Bethlehem Masonic Lodge No. 338-Ancient Free Masons in Round O. He had a passion for gardening and enjoyed sharing his crops with others.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Helen Reeves Byrd of Round O; and children, Minnilynn Byrd Rodgers and her husband Frank of Centre, Alabama, Cecil Byrd, Jr. and his wife Ginger of Simpsonville and Carl Byrd and his wife Robbin of St. George. He was known as “Pappy” to all of his grandchildren, Dustin Rodgers (Brittney), Caleb Rodgers (Shannon), Krista Byrd and Jacob Byrd; great grandchildren, Madison, Ellie, and Hayley Rodgers; step grandchildren, Hunter Hall (Victoria), Taylor Hall (Daniel), Michelle Strange (Mike), Michael Binkley, and Jessica Vance (Rachel); and step great grandchildren, Greer, Smith, Rory, Kaleb, Hunter, Cooper, Abbigail, Jacob, and Cameron. He was preceded in death by his five siblings, Fletcher Byrd, Geneva Canaday, Elise Harbeson, S. D. Byrd, and Samuel Byrd.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm, Sunday afternoon, January 23, 2022, at Welch Creek Baptist Church, 536 Welch Creek Road, Walterboro. Burial will follow in the church cemetery,
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 1 pm in the church sanctuary.
