Carroll Gene Peeples

Carroll Gene Peeples, 77, of Hampton, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020, in Hampton County as a result of injuries due to a motorcycle accident. He was the husband of the late Juanita Altman Peeples.

Born October 11, 1942 in Varnville, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Mr. Elliott McLean Peeples and the late Mrs. Susan Marie Barnes Peeples.  He was a dedicated member of Sandy Run Baptist Church. He was a retired industrial electrician having worked with several companies over his career and retiring from Nevamar Company after 24 years of service with the company. Mr. Peeples was known for his work ethic never stopping until the task had been completed. He took immense pride in keeping the Peeples Cemetery in pristine condition for many years. He had deep passion for deer and raccoon hunting, and freshwater fishing. He greatly loved and enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren over the years. He loved life and lived life to the fullest, but was not afraid to leave this world behind.

He is survived by his son, Douglas Carroll Peeples (Edith Smith), of Hampton; grandchildren, Lauren Peeples (Fiancé David Smith) of Aiken, Megan Peeples of Lexington and Morgan Peeples of Aiken; a future great-grandchild, Somers Smith of Aiken; sisters, Dorothy Peeples Henderson of Varnville and Frances Peeples DeLoach of Hampton.  In addition to his wife, Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ann Peeples and brothers, Elliott Oswald Peeples and Charles Eugene Peeples.      

Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Tuesday morning, October 6, 2020 at Sandy Run Baptist Church, 2100 Sandy Run Road, Hampton.  The Reverend Kevin Mims and The Reverend Paul Reid will be officiating.  Interment will follow in the Peeples Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for an hour of visitation from 10 o’clock till the time of service at Sandy Run Baptist Church.

All attendees are requested to wear a face mask and exercise proper social distance.
