Mrs. Carolyn Smith Cook, 80, of Cummings, passed away Saturday evening, November 20, 2021 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Lester Riddick Cook, Sr.
Mrs. Cook was born January 22, 1941 in Grays and was the daughter of the late Reese Pious Smith and Viola Wooten Smith. She retired as a Post Master Relief for the United States Postal Service after 15 years. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Deep Branch Baptist Church, where she was church treasurer for 30 years. She loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Surviving are: her children, Lester Riddick Cook, Jr. and his wife, Sherry Curry-Cook, Phyllis Cook Briaud and Jeffrey Michael Cook; grandchildren, Brandon Cook, Ashli Cook, Garrett Briaud, Jade Briaud, Michael Cook and Grayson Cook; step grandchildren, Travis Curry and Keeley Briaud; great grandchildren, Bayden Cook, Elina Cook, Wyatt Cook, and Amelia Quinn Curry; brother, Mac Smith of Hampton; sisters, Gladys Miller of Aiken, Betty Cook of Hampton, and Nina Gray and her husband Ronnie of Hampton; sisters-in-law, Jewell Smith of Hampton, Barbara “Bitsy” Smith of Hampton, and Glory Thomas and her husband Jan Thomas of Fairfax; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse David Smith, Byrnes Smith, and Reese Smith; and brothers-in-law, Lee Miller and Donnie Cook.

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Tuesday afternoon, November 23, 2021 at Deep Branch Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
