Billy Harriett Obituary

The Reverend Billy Lee Harriett, 88, of Lodge, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Sanford, Florida and moved to South Carolina in 1949 with his family.  He always said he had the best two jobs in the world, ministering to people about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and farming.  He worked at Savannah River Site for 18 years as a lab technician.  He had the privilege of serving his community as the owner/operator of Harriett Farm Supply from 1976 through 1981.  He accepted the call of the Lord into ministry as a pastor and later served as a District Overseer for the Church of God of Prophecy.  Once retiring he and his “Sweetie” enjoyed taking bus tours to various farms throughout the eastern United States.  They also enjoyed cruising to various destinations including Hawaii.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta R. Harriett of 67 years; daughters, Brenda Harriett Hobdy (Mack) of Alabama, Judy Harriett (Mark) of Seabrook, Joyce Harriett (Sineath) Davis (Harold) of Lodge, and Tara Harriett of Texas; five grandchildren which includes US Navy Chief Petty Officer Richie Sineath of Islandton and Lindsey Sineath (Chris) of Islandton; and ten great grandchildren which includes Dalton Lee Harriett and Mallory Paige Harriett of Washington, Colby John Canaday and Berkeley-Marie Laine Canaday of Islandton, and Maci Annalia Writesel and Sara Marie Writesel of Walterboro.  He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Brook Harriett; mother, Bertha Kinard Harriett; son, Roger Lee Harriett; sisters, Myrle Adams and Gert Gaster; and brother, W. L. Harriett.

He passed under the care of United Energy Workers Healthcare and Agape Hospice of Beaufort with their band of angels.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, March 16, 2024, at Carters Ford Baptist Church, 6581 Lodge Highway, Lodge.  Bishop James Jackson will be officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
