Mr. Buell James Cooke, known by many as “Billy”, age 78, of Lodge, entered into rest Monday, February 15, 2021, at his residence under the care of Agape Hospice.
Born September 28, 1942, in Fort Myers, Florida, he was a son of the late Buell J. Cooke and Vercil Daniels Cooke. He served in the Army Reserves for eight years and was a heavy equipment operator. While living in Florida, he started Cooke Alvarez Land Clearing. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Islandton. An avid hunter, Billy loved the outdoors. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving are: his wife of forty-five years, Mrs. Deborah Stancil Cooke; two daughters, Billie Card and her husband Lee, Jr. of Bamberg and Kelley Lanier and her husband Robert of Florida; a sister, Faye Mosely; five grandchildren, Sarah Cooke, Wyatt Card, Kaci Erp, Shelby Manson, and Tiffany Cool and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Cooke.
